Thornbury Town Band is a brass band based in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire. The band was first established in 1980 when they formed as the Thornbury Junior Band. In 1990 we changed our name to Thornbury Castle Band allowing all members of the local communities to join, children and adults alike. In February 2011 it was decided to change the name to Thornbury Town Band but is still open to all the Town's local communities.
We play a wide range of music from Film music, Pop songs and Classic brass band numbers - some pieces we are currently playing are Walking With Hereos, Candyman (By Christine Aguilera) 'The Impresario' (a Dennis Wright brass band classic) and Film music includes: Hymn to the Fallen (from Saving Private Ryan) and March of the Cobblers (from “Brassed Off”) and also Gladiator (the Gladiator theme tune).
The band is enthusiastically supported and has around 30 members. The player's ages range from 12 to 80 and we practice every Tuesday from 7:30pm to 9:30pm in the Thornbury Sea Cadets Centre.
New players are always welcome (see Band Vacancies link top of page) and if you are interested in joining the band please contact:
